Every Orthodox Christian (baptized in the Orthodox Church), it is desirable to confess and communicate Святых Христовых Таин 1 раз в месяц, но не реже 4-х раз в году – то есть в каждый пост (Рождественский – перед Рождеством Христовым, Великий – перед Пасхой, Петровский – перед праздником св. апостолов Петра и Павла и Успенский – перед Успением Пресвятой Богородицы). Святое Причастие необходимо человеку для освящения его души, оно дарует ему силы бороться с грехами, дарует ему здоровье душевное и телесное. Так как Тело и Кровь Христовы, преподаваемые человеку в причащении, есть величайшая святыня Православной Церкви, то перед причащением необходима особая подготовка человека, а именно:

- Canon to the Guardian Angel;

- Canon for Holy Communion and Prayer for Holy Communion;

- evening prayers.

All of these canons and prayer you will find in every Orthodox prayer books, sold in any Orthodox church.

If you want to partake of, for example, on Saturday, then on Friday from 24.00 till the Communion on Saturday prohibited the use of food and water, medications, and smoking.
